(Cricket News) South Africa women’s side are all set to tour India next month for a all-format series. The Board of Control for cricket in India BCCI has now announced the fixtures and the venues for the upcoming series. India women will play South Africa in a series which would consist of 3 ODIs, 1 Test and 3 T20Is.
Bengaluru and Chennai have been selected as the venues to host the games during South Africa’s visit. The visitors will kick start their tour with a warm-up game against the Board President’s 11 on June 13 in Bengaluru.
The M Chinnaswamy stadium will then host the Proteas for the three ODIs. The series will commence on June 16, which will be followed by a game on the 19th and the final ODI will then be played on the 24th of June.
The caravan will then move further down South to the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Chennai will host a one-off test between the two sides from June 28. It will be only the third test between the two nations, with the previous one been played at Mysore almost a decade ago.
Adding red-ball game to the womens tours has now become a trend from the last year or so. India played Australia as well as England in day games when the sides last toured to India. It is a great step being taken by the boardsa in order to promote the longest format of the game in the women arena as well.
Post the solitarily test, the tour would then culminate with a T20I series, which would consist of three games being played in Chennai on the 5th, 7th and 9th of July. The T20 series would be a great a platform for both the sides to prepare well before the Women’s T20 World Cup later this year in Bangladesh.
