(Football news) Lazio were humiliated 5-1 in Denmark by Midtjylland as the Biancocelesti wanted to build on their 4-2 victory over Feyenoord, but with Mattia Zaccagni and Manuel Lazzari injured, they brought in Pedro, Stefan Radu and also rested Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Danes on the other hand lost their opener to Sturm Graz and won just two out of their 14 competitive matches this season, with their main players Pablo Ortiz and Junior Brumado on the treatment table.
The hosts scored with their first real attempt with Paulinho as Lazio were caught napping when Sory Kaba was allowed to sweep home undisturbed from eight yards after an error from Mario Gila. Midtjylland scored through Evander who converted a penalty. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic came off the bench and got a goal back. However, Isaksen earned another penalty, this time drawing a foul from Adam Marusic as Provedel made the save on Evander’s spot-kick, but Isaksen scored from the rebound. Then Erik Sviatchenko put the icing on the cake as he was left totally unmarked at the back post to volley in an Evander cross.
Roma secured their first win of the Europa League season as they defeated HJK Helsinki 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico. Second half goals from attacking trio Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini, and Andrea Belotti helped the capital side grab a much-needed victory after they lost their first group match against Ludogorets. HJK Helsinki captain Miro Tenho was sent off less than fifteen minutes into the match putting his team in trouble. Roma couldn't take any advantage while Helsinki almost grabbed the lead thanks to Arttu Hoskonen.
With the sides level at halftime, Mourinho was forced to bring on Paulo Dybala, who was given a rest as he didn’t take long to make his presence felt and made an instant impact. Dybala latched onto a pass from captain Lorenzo Pellegrini and found the back of the net from the edge of the area. Less than two minutes later, Pellegrini scored his first goal of the season and doubled the lead after Andrea Belotti’s cross made its way into his path. Belotti then went on to add a third and final goal in the 68th minute as he officially opened his goalscoring account with Roma. The win makes it two in a week for Jose Mourinho’s side, who return to action this weekend when they host Atalanta in Serie A.
