(Football news) The FA Cup third round fixtures have been announced with current holders Leicester City set to face Watford in a fixture which will see former manager Claudio Ranieri return to the King Power Stadium. Manchester United will host Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa in another all-Premier League tie while West Ham will take on Leeds United at the London Stadium.
One of the biggest mismatches on paper is non-league side Chesterfield, who are currently top of the National League facing European champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. League Two side Swindon will welcome the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at the County Ground while Shrewsbury will face Liverpool at Anfield. Arsenal, who have won the FA Cup a record 14 times, will face Nottingham Forest while League One team Morecambe will face Tottenham Hotspur.
Newcastle United will face Cambridge, Wolves will face Sheffield United while Burnley will face Huddersfield in the FA Cup third round fixtures. Everton will travel to Hull City’s stadium while Southampton will face Swansea City. Bottom placed Premier League club Norwich City will play against League One outfit Charlton in a fixture where results can go either way for the two sides.
The third round matches are set to take place between January 7th and January 10th 2022.
