(Motorsports news) This season, F1 Academy debuted but was met with criticism for its lack of visibility, with races being shortened into highlight clips rather than receiving live broadcasts. While the series has visited top-tier locations such as Austria’s Red Bull Ring, Barcelona, Zandvoort, and Monza, it has not hosted Formula 1 race. That is, until this weekend, when F1 Academy will compete in the US Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas.

However, all rounds will be held at events from next season. The schedule for 2024 has been released by the series, which is led by former Williams test driver Susie Wolff. The campaign will kick out in Saudi Arabia on March 7-9, before going on to Miami, Barcelona, Zandvoort, Marina Bay in Singapore, and finally Qatar.

F1 Academy’s season finale will coincide with Formula 1’s, with both championships concluding in Abu Dhabi (the site of F1 Academy’s international announcement via a press conference) on December 6-8. “I am delighted to announce our seven-round season for 2024,” stated managing director Wolff.

“This calendar solidifies our ambition to become a truly global series, broadening our reach and raising awareness of our mission. We want to inspire young girls and women all over the world by demonstrating that there is a place for them in our sport, and racing alongside Formula 1 will help us do that. I want to thank all seven promotors for supporting us in our mission and embarking on this journey with us in 2024.”

For 2024, each of the ten Formula 1 teams must furnish one driver and feature their livery on a car. “It is fantastic to welcome F1 Academy onto seven rounds of the F1 calendar next year,” said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. “With the support of all ten Formula 1 teams, this global platform will take the series to the next level, providing not only the opportunity for the drivers to develop their skills on F1 tracks, but also inspiring young girls around the world to pursue a career in motorsport.”

“I want to thank our promoters, our Formula 1 teams, and the wider motorsport community for their support of F1 Academy as we move towards our exciting second season.” Marta Garcia of Prema Racing leads the standings by 48 points over ART Grand Prix racer Lena Buhler ahead of the Austin finale.
