Ex-Real Madrid Star Excited for UCL

Not too long ago, Martin Odegaard was still regarded as a young talent hoping to make his way at Real Madrid.

The Norwegian has established himself in the Premier League with Arsenal and is currently regarded as one of the top midfielders in world football, despite the fact that his time at the Santiago Bernabeu did not quite go as planned.

In reality, Odegaard was a key architect of Arsenal’s resounding 7-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven in Thursday night’s Champions League Round of 16 first leg.

Odegaard acknowledged after the victory that he is now excited about the possibility of playing Real Madrid, his old team, in the upcoming round.

The arsenal actor stated in an interview with Amazon Prime that “it would be special to go back there.”

Odegaard participated in just 11 competitive games for Los Blancos while he was a member of Real Madrid from 2015 to 2021.

However, the Norwegian has had great success at Arsenal.  The midfielder has played in 182 competitive games for the Gunners since joining the team, tallying 40 goals and 32 assists.

Arsenal has become a strong contender for the Champions League this season thanks in large part to Odegaard’s heroics.  The player also claims that the Gunners are more than prepared for the upcoming task.

“Whoever we get, we’ll be ready, but first we have to finish the job at home and then we’ll see who we get,” said the captain of Arsenal.

Arsenal has all but guaranteed their spot in the quarterfinals after defeating PSV Eindhoven 7-1.  However, it is now up to Real Madrid to do the same.  Although the defending European champions defeated Atletico Madrid by a slim margin of 2-1 in the first leg, the rematch at the Metropolitano will not be an easy one.
