We are back at the Apex for another exciting card for UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs Holland. Better known as UFC Vegas 22.
The 6 fight main card looks like this:
Weight class Middleweight
Derek Brunson
vs.
Kevin Holland
Lightweight
Gregor Gillespie
vs.
Brad Riddell
Women’s Strawweight
Cheyanne Buys
vs.
Montserrat Ruiz
Bantamweight
Adrian Yanez
vs.
Gustavo Lopez
Welterweight
Song Kenan
vs.
Max Griffin
Heavyweight
Tai Tuivasa
vs.
Harry Hunsucker The main card starts off with the heavy hitting New Zealander Tai Tuivasa who will take on hungry Harry Hunsucker.
Tuivasa is a flamboyant striker that has won against former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and recently finished Stefan Struve in a devastating manner. Tuivasa welcomes hungry Harry Hunsucker to his UFC debut.
Harry Hunsucker is a veteran at Hard Rock MMA and has fought in the Dana White Contender Series. His debut UFC fight against Tuivasa will set the tone for the rest of his UFC career. A win here can change the fortune for Hunsucker.
The co-main clash between Gregor Gillespie and Brad Riddell would be a treat for the fans to watch.
New York native Gillespie was handed his last loss which happens to be his first loss against Kevin Lee in 2019. He has taken sufficient time off, recuperated and looks rejuvenated to face Auckland’s Riddell. Riddell, also known as Quake, for his dynamic kickboxing skills is riding a 6 fight win streak and is looking to put the heat on the New Yorker.
Don’t expect this to be a striker versus grappler contest as Gillespie has mastered the art of faking the punch and finding loops into taking his opponents down. Riddell will have to find a way to counter that and get the fight on the feet.
Crystal Ball Prediction: Gregor Gillespie gets his hand raised.
The main event clash is between veteran Derek Brunson and surging star Kevin Holland in the middleweight (185 lbs) division.
The North Carolina based Sanford MMA loyalist Brunson has been with the UFC since 2012 and has raked up wins against some of the toughest opponents in a division stacked with killers. Wins over Lyoto Machida and Uriah Hall cemented his position as a top contender but somehow Brunson has always fallen short versus the Top 5. He currently is riding a 3 fight win streak and looks to showcase his grappling skills versus a very confident Kevin Holland.
Holland on the other hand has shown some incredible striking, especially in his last fight versus Ranaldo Jacare Souza.
Holland is currently on a 5 fight win streak and is looking to dislodge Brunson to make way for the new guard.
