Erling Haaland fails to beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for goals scored.

The opportunity for Erling Haaland to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the fewest games required to score 100 goals for one club was lost.

With 99 goals in 103 games going into Wednesday’s match against Inter, the Norway international knew that one more goal would tie Ronaldo’s Real Madrid record of 100 goals in 105 games.

Haaland, in his 105th City appearance, faces Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. If he wants to equal the Portugal legend’s record, he will have to score, as he was unable to reach the back of the net. He can now only tie Ronaldo’s record.

After Inter’s 0-0 tie, manager Pep Guardiola rushed to Haaland’s defense, acknowledging that Inter did a great job of marking him out of the game.

Around him, according to Guardiola, were six players. With three in front and three behind. That is how they managed to keep him out of the match.

For any player, that makes it challenging. He had Hakan Calhanoglou and Piotr Zielinski in front of him, and Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Basotni five meters away. It’s difficult.

Although Erling Haaland is a versatile and successful forward because of his technical abilities, physical characteristics, and tactical awareness. He is one of the best strikers in modern football because of his versatility in adjusting to different tactical configurations while still offering a constant threat to score goals.
