(Cricket news) Surrey and England cricketer Sam Curran has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to a lower back injury, England and Wales Cricket Board have confirmed.
Curran first reported lower back pain in the Indian Premier League’s match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals with scans revealing the injury soon after. He will fly back to the United Kingdom in the next few days for further scans and a full review with ECB’s medical team.
Tom, Sam Curran’s brother, has also been drafted into England’s squad for the T20 World Cup along with Surrey’s Reece Topley who has been added as a travelling reserve and will join the squad in due course. Those who are not currently at the IPL have arrived in Muscat earlier today and will remain in Oman until 16th of October before heading to Dubai for the start of the tournament.
