Eden Hazard’s unfortunate situation at Real Madrid and what’s next?

(Football news) Eden Hazard's Real Madrid career has been a tragedy of sorts. In a recent interview, Hazard revealed a lot about the current situation. He said that it's impossible for him to leave in January as his family is well settled in Madrid. He also said that he doesn't want to leave Real Madrid but if the club asked him to go in the summer he would agree. Hazard came across as very humble and realistic as he has throughout his time in Madrid. The Belgian is one player Real Madrid fans desperately wanted to see do well at the Bernabéu but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. There is still some time left as his contract doesn't run out till 2024 but seeing how things have gone so far it doesn't look likely that he will succeed at Real Madrid.

When asked to rate his time at Madrid he said "I would give my signing a 0 for the way I play, because I don't play, but a 10 for how I live these moments with the team. Being a Real Madrid player was my dream as a child. I want to play with this shirt." Hazard has always been vocal about his love for Real Madrid. He went on to say "I've not played much in 3 years. I have to show it when I play, be it 5, 10 or 15 minutes. I have to play well when I play." Hazard's intent has never been the problem but it's other things. He was first hampered with injuries and now when he is fit, there are 4-5 players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Hazard's problems started when he turned up overweight in his first training session at Madrid. Talking about it he said "That's always happened. I work and play football during the season, but when I have 3 weeks off, I rest. I won't change." He also gave a message to Real Madrid fans saying "Madrid fans, I'm sorry. It's not easy, I don't play, I want to play more. I'm really sorry for what happened. At Chelsea, I played hundreds of games, without injuries. At Madrid, I've had all of these injuries. It’s something I can’t explain". Madrid fans may not remember Hazard as a legend of the club but he will always be remembered as a professional player who tried everything but was just purely unlucky.

The World Cup is a very good opportunity for Hazard to set things right by putting in a good performance. At this moment in time Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Fede Valverde and Marco Asensio are all ahead of him but that can change. Especially after the World Cup where all the above mentioned players will come back exhausted. Belgium are in a group with Canada, Croatia and Morocco. They definitely have the team that can go far in the competition which will be great for Hazard.
