(Football News) In their National Group Stage match, the Red and Gold Brigade blasted Velsao SCC 7-2, with six individual scorers aiding the club from Kolkata to a commanding victory. The Islanders, on the other hand, defeated Ramthar Veng FC 2-0 later that day with two goals from Reagan Pereira and Ayush Chhikhara in each half, which helped the home team win this game and earn three points.
With Muahmmed Roshal drawing the first blood in the second minute, East Bengal had taken the lead early on in the game. They doubled their advantage thanks to Jesin TK Thonikkara’s assistance in the 15th minute, but Velsao swiftly closed the gap thanks to a goal from substitute Climax Fernandes one minute later.
At halftime, the game was quite evenly matched, with the outcome of both teams still up in the air. But what came next was a thrilling second half that included six goals, of which five were scored by East Bengal.
To make it 4-1, East Bengal scored goals in the 60th and 63rd minutes, respectively, from Dip Saha and Kush Chhetry. Sourav Biswas scored in the 83rd minute to assist the side gain control of the situation after their substitutes immediately sprung into action.
In the 86th minute, Velsao’s Shario Gomes scored from the penalty spot, but East Bengal was not about to sit back. Instead, Rupam Roy and Saha added further goals in the final few minutes of regulation and overtime to give East Bengal a 7-2 victory.
Mumbai, on the other hand, defeated Ramthar Veng with a more understated 2-0 victory. With a goal in the 18th minute, in-form midfielder Reagan Pereira gave them the lead in the match. Later on, with their strong defensive organization, they prevented Ramthar from getting even close to the goal. Chhikhara scored in the 58th minute to assist Mumbai to make sure that ended the match without any major alarms. Chhikhara made his senior team debut in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022–2023.
