(Football news) Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic has taken Serie A by storm this season. His performances have put the Serbian on the radar of many top teams. The 21-year-old forward has found the back of the net 16 times so far. A regular goal-scorer has already become the league's top scorer at this point and also equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s Serie A goals record of the most goals in a calendar year in the Serie A after scoring during Fiorentina’s 2-2 draw with Sassuolo on Sunday.
Vlahovic's goal tally in Serie A stands at 33 this year with one more match remaining this year he has the chance to have this record all by himself. He is currently at par with Cristiano Ronaldo for the highest number of Serie A goals in a calendar year. CR7 achieved this feat while playing for Juventus. His second-half strike took him to within three of Robert Lewandowski – who is the leading scorer in the top five leagues in Europe. Ronaldo last season became the first player since 1961 to score 33 goals in 12 months after he scored a brace against Parma but that has now been matched by the serial goalscorer Vlahovic. He has also scored four times in his last four games for Serbia to help his country book their place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The player's contract to remain at Fiorentina does not expire until the summer of 2023. The club president has put a price tag of €70m for him. Due to the remaining time in his contract, Fiorentina will look to gain the upper hand in the negotiations with big clubs next summer.. Fiorentina will have to look to utilize this window or the next season's summer transfer window to cash in on the player while his value is at its peak rather than risking it keeping and losing him for free. The player is not interested in staying in Fiorentina as he is looking for new ventures and hence the club should not be missing out on making a profit from his sale. Vlahovic's mentality, technique, quality, structure and shooting has made big teams aware of this, and no wonder teams like Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle United are all set to battle for his signature.
