(Cricket news) The Delhi High Court will hear the case, with Justice Pratibha Singh hearing both parties on Thursday, January 18. Advocates Rishi Awasthi and Smarhar Singh will represent the plaintiff (Mihir Diwakar & Anr).
Former India cricketer and captain of the Chennai Super Kings Mahendra Singh Dhoni is facing legal issues after his former business partners, Mihir Diwakar and wife Soumya Das, filed a defamation suit against him. The suit is an attempt to stop the cricketer from making any false allegations against the pair and casting their names in a negative light.
It is important to note that Diwakar, his wife, and Dhoni signed a contract in 2017 to run cricket academies all over the world; the Ranchi-born cricket player allegedly broke this agreement.
This has led to a claim that Dhoni and his allies made false statements accusing Diwakar of defrauding the 42-year-old, which the partner has challenged in the High Court. The plaintiff has told the court that the false accusations being made about him in the media have damaged his reputation and image.
As a result of the lawsuit, social media and publishing platforms have also been ordered to remove all of the allegedly false news about Diwakar, which was made public by Dayanand Sharma.
The attorney claimed in the press conference that his client, former partner Diwakar, had defrauded him by continuing to operate under the contracted names even after the former captain of India revoked the authorization letter to operate academies under the names of “MS Dhoni Sports Academy,” “MS Dhoni Cricket Academy,” or “MS Dhoni Sports Complex” under the firm Aarka Sports.
Dhoni had also filed a criminal complaint against Diwakar for criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, forgery, and cheating, as well as using forged documents as authentic, among other offenses, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
