(Cricket news) In the IPL, Delhi Capitals defeated Punjab Kings by 15 runs in Dharamsala. In the first innings, Delhi amassed a mammoth 213/2 in 20 overs after being chosen to bat first thanks to Rilee Rossouw’s dominant performance and Prithvi Shaw’s brilliant comeback as he scored 54 (38b, 7×4, 1×6).
Rossouw scored 82 (37b, 6×4, 6×6) for an unbroken return. Shaw, who was reinstated to the XI, met expectations. David Warner, his captain, gave his team a solid start as he scored 46 (31b, 5×4, 2×6). This helped Shaw and Warner put on a 94 runs partnership. Sam Curran took 2 wickets in his 4 overs spell and gave 36 runs.
Livingstone struck 94 (48b, 5×4, 9×6) as PBKS put 198/8 on the board while attempting to chase a daunting 214. In addition to Livingstone, Atharva Taide also scored a half-century before declaring retirement at 55(42b, 5×4, 2×6). Bowlers Ishant Sharma and Anrich Nortje took 2 wickets each for DC.
The loss against Delhi Capitals, which is already eliminated from playoff contention, dealt a serious blow to PBKS’ chances of making the IPL 2023 playoffs as they are currently in eighth place with 12 points after losing their seventh match of the season. Although their chances of making it to the final four are still very slim, they are still in the running
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, the Delhi Capitals’ final IPL 2023 game will feature the Chennai Super Kings. Despite being eliminated from IPL 2023 playoff contention, DC defeated PBKS by 15 runs at HPCA, ruining their prospects. However, DC would play the same match to maintain their honour, while CSK still have a chance to be in the top two of the points standings.
PBKS will play RR in their one remaining game. RR are also in the contention of qualifying for the playoffs. PBKS can also ruin the party for RR as DC did to the PBKS. The playoff fight is spicing up match after match.
