Journalist Fabrizio Romano says that David Alaba has resumed training with Real Madrid following a major knee injury.
Due to a damaged anterior cruciate ligament in his left leg that injured the meniscus, the defender has not been able to play since December 17, 2023. The Austrian’s knee required two surgery. Alaba has reportedly returned to Real Madrid’s main training group as of today, January 7.
The club views Alaba as a “winter signing” because they chose not to buy a new player in January to replace the two long-term injuries (Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal) because another long-term injured player is set to return. In his right knee, the 32-year-old athlete tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
David Alaba will at least travel with the rest of the team, even if it is uncertain if he will participate. Vinícius Jr., who was sent off with a straight red card for attacking Valencia’s goalie on Friday, will also be waiting for the outcome of a sanction. He might be suspended for two or four games.
Notably, Real Madrid’s next game is set for Thursday, January 9. In the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, the Madrid team will play Mallorca.
