(Football news) After 4 consecutive defeats Chennai Super Kings bounced back with an incredible 23 run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first before announcing two changes as Suyash Prabhudesai and Josh Hazelwood replaced David Willey and Harshal Patel while CSK were unchanged.
Batting first, CSK got a mammoth total of 216 in their 20 overs. The 165 run partnership between Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube was absolutely mesmerizing to watch. Uthappa scored 88 off 50, hitting 4 fours and 9 sixes while Dube scored an unbeaten 95 off 46 including 5 boundaries and 8 maximums. The pair displayed some brilliant hitting especially against the RCB spinners. Wanindu Hasaranga picked up two wickets while Josh Hazelwood got a scalp. RCB replaced a pure bowler with a batter which cost them dearly. Dube is in terrific form this season and is proving to be a bargain buy. Robin Uthappa with all his experience could be key in turning CSK's fortune around. Ruturaj Gaikwad finally got a start even though it was just 17 runs. He played a couple good shots and could build on that in the coming matches.
Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli were dismissed very cheaply. Glenn Maxwell, Suyash Prabhudesai, Shabaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik played good cameos but couldn't convert them into big innings. Mahesh Theekshana took 4 wickets for 34 runs and stamped CSK's authority on the game. Skipper Ravindra Jadeja also bowled well as he finished with the figures of 3/39. The all-rounder picked up crucial wickets when partnerships were building. Mukesh Choudhary and Dwayne Bravo chipped in with a wicket each as RCB finished the innings at 193/9. The win pretty much keeps CSK in the contest as they have finally opened their account.
