WBBL: Harmanpreet’s unbeaten 73 guides Renegades to the top; Deepti’s player of the match performance ensures back to back wins for the Thunders

(Cricket news) After their first win of the season against Melbourne Stars, Sydney Thunder continued their winning run against Hobart Hurricanes. Smriti Mandhana scored a run a ball fifty after Thunder elected to bat first. Mandhana was dismissed after playing an unnecessary shot off Nicola Carey straight to the square leg fielder. Deepti Sharma came into bat at no. 5 and scored an important 20 off 15 balls. She then picked up 3 for 13 along with a fantastic catch to earn the player of the match award.

Melbourne Renegades got their 4th consecutive win against Adelaide Strikers to put them on top of the table. The strikers elected to bat first and scored 160 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur picked up 2 wickets for 31 runs in her 4 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues opened the innings with 161 to chase and scored a quickfire 16 ball 27 where she hit 4 boundaries and a massive six. After the dismissal of Rodrigues, the Indian skipper single handedly completed the chase for the Renegades. Kaur scored 73 off just 46 balls hitting 3 fours and 5 maximums. The Melbourne Renegades are on a roll and look like the best team in the tournament so far.

Harmanpreet Kaur's return to form is music to the ears of Indian supporters who will be rooting for India in the 2022 World Cup. Kaur is the 3rd highest scorer in the tournament with 219 runs in 6 games. She also has the highest average among the top run scorers. Deepti Sharma is the 3rd highest wicket taker with 9 wickets in 6 games. She also has a healthy economy of 6.52.
