Takeaways from Australia’s legendary Test series win in Pakistan

(Cricket news) The Test series between Australia and Pakistan was monumental even before it started as it was the first time in 25 that the two sides had played a series in Pakistan. After drawing the first of the two Tests, the visitors won the last Test in emphatic fashion. Pakistan's approach was the thing that was questioned the most throughout the series where it looked like they were always playing for a draw.

Overall the series didn't have a lot of excitement to offer because of flat pitches but Australia once again showed why they are a world class side. Pat Cummins led from the front as he took 12 wickets which was joint highest with Nathan Lyon. The off spinner always picked up wickets in delicate situations to give his side a breakthrough. Mitchell Starc carried on his Ashes form in the series as he perfectly used reverse swing to his advantage.

Usman Khawaja was named the player of the series for being the highest run scorer. He scored 496 runs including 2 hundreds, he also got out in the nineties twice. Khawaja had an excellent series against in his home country and cemented his place in the Australian Test side. His extraordinary comeback is a great sign for Australia who have been searching for David Warner's partner for some while now.

The Pakistan board came under a lot of scrutiny for preparing lifeless pitches. The thought process was clear that they didn't want to give Australia any sort of advantage. The tactic did come off as gutless and eventually backfired as Pakistan lost control at a time after which they couldn't even come back. Australia now sit comfortably at the top of the World Test Championship table while Pakistan have slipped to fourth.
