Mumbai Indians stare at possible exit with two matches remaining in IPL

(Cricket news) The playoffs of Indian Premier League will begin from 10th October as the top three teams have qualified, the fourth team is yet to be decided. Mumbai Indians are currently placed seventh on the points table and have two more matches left.

To confirm their place in the playoffs, Mumbai Indians will need to win both their remaining matches and then Rajasthan Royals to secure a victory against Kolkata Knight Riders. Mumbai Indians will need to win their last two games for sure to atleast have a chance for the playoffs. They will next face Rajasthan Royals  who are placed 6th and in the final match will face Sunrisers Hyderabad who have already lost their chances of playoffs.

Mumbai Indians worst performance had come in 2009 where they finished seventh on the points table and have missed the playoffs twice. They have won the last two editions of the IPL and the last time they didn’t qualify for the playoffs was in 2018 where they finished 5th.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings have one more match to play as Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians have two more matches in hand. Mumbai Indians will need their batters to come up good in the last two games as the bowlers have done a good job led by Jasprit Bumrah who has 17 wickets has been accompanied by Rahul Chahar who has 13 wickets, three bowlers have taken 10 or more wickets in team with Trent Boult being the third player with 12 wickets.

The batters have not been upto the mark as captain Rohit Sharma is the only one who has scored more than 300 runs with Quinton De Kock just three runs shy from reaching the 300 run mark. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav have not yet found their form as the middle order has not been able to deliver so far. The last two matches even if won will not guarantee them the playoffs so the team needs to hope for a huge victory and continue their incredible comeback like earlier seasons.
