India women take on England to kick start the 3 match ODI series

(Cricket news) After losing the T20Is, India now take on England in 3 ODIs. According to various reports, the series will be Jhulan Goswami's final one as an Indian player as she plans to retire after this. The Indian side will have extra motivation to win the series to give a proper farewell to the legendary bowler but they must not let the occasion get to them. The women in blue need to keep things simple and win matches. England are severely understaffed as they are missing Heather Knight, Nat Sciver and Kathrine Brunt. This is a good chance for India to win an ODI series in England which will be a very big feat. This is India's 2nd ODI series post Mithali Raj's retirement and the team is in transition which will continue even further as Jhulan Goswami is also planning to hang her boots.

India's ideal playing XI:

Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Harmanpreet Kaur (c ), Dayalan Hemalatha, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, Renuka Singh, Jhulan Goswami

Bench:

Simran Bahadur, Taniya Bhatia, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Jemimah Rodrigues, S. Meghna, Meghna Singh

India has a couple of tough calls to make in selection. Yastika Bhatia should get the nod ahead of Tania Bhatia as the wicket keeper. The bowling combination is also a tricky pick but 3 seamers and 2 spinners in English conditions is always ideal. It will be very informative for Meghna Singh to miss out but Renuka Singh, Jhulan Goswami and Pooja Vastrakar are undroppable at this moment in time. There is still no clarity on the availability of Jemimah Rodrigues who has been out with injury. If Rodrigues is available then she will definitely be in the side but it looks unlikely.

England's ideal playing XI:

Tammy Beaumont, Emma Lamb, Sophia Dunkley, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Dani Wyatt, Amy Jones, Sophie Ecclestone, Kate Cross, Issy Wong, Freya Davies

Bench:

Lauren Bell, Alice Davidson-Richards, Charlie Dean, Freya Kemp,

The England ODI team looks completely different from the T20 side. The hosts are missing Heather Knight, Nat Sciver and Kathrine Brunt but they are still a very good team. Kate Cross should come into the side after sitting on the bench for the entire T20I series. Issy Wong is likely to be preferred as the 3rd seamer ahead of Charlie Dean and Lauren Bell. Emma Lamb was the Player of the Series in England's last ODI series against South Africa and this will be a very good test for her.
