(Cricket news) After being completely outplayed by South Africa in the 1st ODI, India have a lot of problems to solve in the 2nd ODI which will also be played at the Boland Park. South Africa have a chance to wrap up the series. India will have to play much better than they did in the last match.
South Africa possible playing XI:
Quinton de Kock (wk), Janeman Malan, Temba Bavuma (C), Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj, Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi.
South Africa has no reason to make changes in their side. The only change could be who bats at what position in the middle order which is extremely flexible. Bavuma used 6 bowlers in the last game and they all did their job well.
India possible playing XI:
KL Rahul(C), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Surya Kumar Yadav, Venkatesh Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal.
Shardul Thakur could miss out despite his half century in the last game due to his poor bowling performance as he gave away 72 runs and failed to pick up a wicket. Shreyas Iyer failed to make an impact in the last game and could make way for Surya Kumar Yadav. Indian batters need to convert their starts into big scores to have any chance of winning the match. It would be unfair to drop Venkatesh Iyer after just one game in which he wasn't given a chance to bowl but there is no point keeping him in the side if KL Rahul doesn't give him the ball.
The captain that wins the toss will once again look to bat first and get runs on the board as anything above 280 will be difficult to chase. The pitch is likely to be sluggish like the last game. Batting will be very difficult in the initial stages and runs won't come easy. India desperately needs the win to try and rescue what has been a very disappointing tour. At the moment South Africa even without their pace bowling heavyweights Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje look favorites to win the match which says a lot about the Indian side at the moment.
