Hasaranga spins his webs as RCB defeat KKR by 3 wickets

(Cricket news) After losing their first match against Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore came back with a 3 wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in a low scoring contest. Faf du Plessis had won the toss and put KKR into bat first as he announced an unchanged XI. Shreyas Iyer on the other hand left out Shivam Mavi to bring in Tim Southee.

Batting first, KKR got into a royal mess as RCB bowlers were all over them. Andre Russell was the only batter to cross the 20 run mark as KKR were all out for 128 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers as he picked 4 wickets. The Srilankan managed to make use of the surface, picking the right spots and using his natural variation. Akash Deep picked up 3 wickets while Harshal Patel got 2 scalps. Mohammed Siraj also got a wicket after his disappointing performance in the last game. KKR batters never looked comfortable in the innings and wouldn't have even reached 100 if it weren't for some precious runs that their bowlers got.

Chasing a small total, RCB also got off to a disastrous start. Umesh Yadav dismissed Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli while Tim Southee got rid of du Plessis as RCB were 17/3. Later, the Royal Challengers composed themselves with contributions by David Willey, Sam Rutherford, Shabaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik and Harshal Patel. RCB have kept their batting line-up flexible in a way that Dinesh Karthik will always be there as a finisher and presumably wouldn't be asked to bat a lot of overs. KKR bowlers tried their best but the target was too short and the dew factor also came into play.
