Australian women wrap up series after underwhelming batting performance from Indian women

(Cricket news) Australian women win 2nd W-T20I, thereby winning the series in the process. Australia now stand on 8 points while India are still on 4. The Indian side have been very unlucky with the weather working against them. They were in a good position in the 1st W-T20I but the game was rained out and would've eventually won the Test match if it wasn't for rain.

Meg Lanning won the toss for the 6th consecutive time this series and put India into bat. The Australian captain has won every single toss in this series so far with one game to go. India got off to a disastrous start as Tayla Vlaeminck dismissed Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma cheaply. India kept losing wickets at regular intervals and couldn't get runs on the board. Some late fireworks from Pooja Vastrakar got India to 118 at the end of 20 overs.

The wicket was tough to bat on but India were a good 20 runs short of a defendable total. Seamer Shikha Pandey bowled Alyssa Healy off an absolute Jaffa inswinger. The amount of deviation on the delivery was freakish and not something you usually see with the white ball. India remained in the game for the longest time, managing to keep the required rate above 6 but Tahlia McGrath played a good knock of 42 with a good contribution from Beth Mooney at the top. It was the 18th and 19th over when India gave too many runs.

The series is a huge positive for this young Indian side going forward. The series loss came down to tiny margins; the score could've easily been 10-4 to India if rain and bad luck hadn't intervened. The Australian team with their vast experience dealt with pressure situations better, which is why they have managed to win the series. The next and last game of the series will be the 3rd W-T20I where India will have nothing to lose and a hope to end the tour on a high.
