Ajaz Patel becomes the 3rd bowler after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble to pick 10 wickets in an innings

(Cricket news) Ajaz Patel has picked up all 10 wickets in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test match against India. The left arm spinner ripped through the Indian batting who were bowled out for 325 runs. Patel finished with the figures of 10/119 in 47.5 overs. Patel became only the third bowler after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble to pick up 10 wickets in a Test match innings.

Ajaz Patel was born in Mumbai before he migrated to New Zealand and therefore will have fond memories of the Wankhede stadium. He bowled relentlessly from one end hitting the deck right in the right lines. Although the pitch is tailor-made for a bowler like him he did well in varying his pace. Patel hit the deck hard allowing the ball to turn and bounce from the center of the pitch. 2 of his dismissals were bowled, 3 LBW, 2 caught behind, 1 caught in the slip corden and 2 caught after lofted shots.

In the list of most wickets in an innings Ajaz Patel is the most expensive and also took the most overs. The performances of Lake and Kumble came for a winning cause and Patel will be hoping for the same. Although it is a great personal achievement India's total is good enough on a pitch that will deteriorate as the days progress. Patel was the only New Zealand bowler who looked threatening. He had no help from his fellow bowlers. The Kiwis didn't find a bowler who would keep things tight from the other end.

The game is still in India's favour with the quality of spinners they have. New Zealand will have to chase in the 4th innings which would be a very difficult thing to do no matter how small the target is.
