(Cricket news) Pakistan started the Test series with a win against Bangladesh today. Pakistan batted and bowled well as they were the better team in all the aspects as Bangladesh has not recorded a victory in the series so far. The first test saw five half centuries, two centuries, two five wicket hauls and one 7 wicket haul which explains there was plenty of action from the two teams.
Bangladesh had won the toss and chose to bat first which cost them dearly as their top four batters were all gone before the team could cross 50. It was when Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das both wicket keepers kept the score ticking as they took the score to 255 until Rahim missed a well derived century. Both of them in total played 458 balls which was the highlight of the innings for the Bangladeshi side, while for the Pakistani side the bowlers were led by Hasan Ali who took a five wicket haul.
When Pakistan came into bat, their openers played their role to perfection as the opening partnership of 146 set the tone for the team. Abid Ali scored 133 and Abdullah Shafique departed with a half century as they both were removed by Taijul Islam in successive deliveries. Two quick wickets left the team in shambles as Taijul made sure they would not cross their team's score.
Bangladesh started the second innings with a lead of 14 runs but the top order again did not score major runs as Shaheen Afridi joined the party by taking three wickets in two overs. Das was again the spoilsport as he scored a fighting half century to keep the match alive and with his departure the team fell apart as Pakistan had a chasable target with an ample amount of time.
The target was 202 for Pakistan as Bangladesh needed weather support or would need a miracle from the bowlers. The openers again did the job as they scored 151 runs with Abid leading with 91 runs as the job was half done and captain Babar Azam alongside Azhar Ali scored the winning runs to give a positive start to the test series for Pakistan.
Bangladesh: 330/10 and 157/10
Pakistan: 286 and 203/2
