Cricket teams from all over regional Western Australia will leave their mark over the coming weeks, as they take part in WA Cricket’s annual Country Week competitions.

Junior, Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s Country Week games will be played at community grounds across the Perth Metropolitan area, with the U16A and U14A Junior Grand finals being played at Murdoch and the Senior Men’s and Women’s at the iconic WACA ground.

Country Week, the state’s premier cricket carnival, has a rich history spanning more than a century. Each year, regional associations fiercely compete for the coveted top spot.

Junior Country Week kicks off the festival of cricket from January 6 – 10, with Senior Men’s Country Week starting January 19-24.

Senior Women’s Country Week will begin the following week, January 25 – 27.

WA Cricket Area Manager – Country, Andrew Hayes said it was incredible to see a large number of teams participate in the ever-growing competition.

“Country Week brings teams from all corners of the state, from Broome all the way down to Esperance,” Hayes said.

“We have 42 Junior teams, 41 Senior Male and nine Senior Female teams competing across the three weeks of January and we can’t wait to see all participants and teams enjoy their games of cricket.

“As we continue to grow the competition and ensure all players feel welcomed and supported, this year marks the first time that Junior and Men’s Senior Country Week participants will wear coloured uniforms.

“It is so important that we continue to bring the competition, which has been running since 1907, into the modern age to ensure the competition is welcoming to everyone who would like to participate.

“We are once again excited to host the Senior Men’s and, for the first time, Senior Women’s Finals at the iconic WACA Ground.”
