Christopher Galtier is set to become the new manager of PSG

(Football news) Christopher Galtier is set to become the new manager of PSG. He is rated highly by Luis Campos, having already worked with him at Lille. The compensation requested by Nice somewhat repelled PSG from the deal but negotiations are still on. The Parisian club is not thrilled by the idea of paying 10 million euros for a coach who doesn’t have much experience. Nice have already agreed a deal with Lucien Favre to succeed Galtier. PSG are hoping that the Riviera club will decide to separate from Galtier and start preparing for the new season with Luicen Favre.

Luís Campos was tasked to search for an able head coach who would lead them to the Champions League glory. After the departure of Mauricio Pochettino, Christophe Galtier became the clear favourite for the job after the manager who led Lille to the 2020-21 Ligue 1 title is widely reported to be in pole position. He and Campos have familiarity with one another having worked wonders at Lille. It has been reported that PSG and Nice are going to agree a compensation package of €10m to set Galtier free. Zinedine Zidane has also been closely linked to the club, though PSG denied any reports that it had been in talks with the French legend.

Pochettino didn’t find the much needed European success that PSG are desperate to achieve, but he did win the domestic title as it was his first trophy as a manager. The club did not retain the league title after losing out to Lille last year. This past season, PSG brought in a number of high-profile transfers, including the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi. For Gaitler, this is going to be a stepping stone in his career as he needs to handle high profile players along with very high expectations of the owners. But seeing his recent track record with Lille and Nice, he looks ready for the PSG job. His good working relationship with Luis Campos will help him get settled down at the club

His main job will be to handle big personalities in the dressing room and help them play as a group rather than depending on individual brilliance. It will be interesting how Galtier handles the pressure of coaching Messi since he hasn’t had the best of seasons at Paris. His other concern in the team would be the influential power Mbappe has now but the fact that he has a track record of nurturing young talent can help Mbappe become even a better player. It looks like Luis Campos and Gaitler wouldn’t want to make too many signings since the plethora of talent they have in the squad
