(Football news) Chelsea have been struggling to close deals for certain targets but at least in some situations, those problems are nothing compared to their inability to offload players who are surplus to requirements. While they were somehow able to figure out a solution for Romelu Lukaku, the squad seems to be fully unmotivated especially with the highly paid players who are just going through the motions at the moment.
Timo Werner has come under fire for his lazy play on and was recently the subject of some interesting comments from head coach Thomas Tuchel as well, which seemed to hint at a general unhappiness towards the 26-year-old. Werner did in fact say that he could be happy “everywhere” as long as he was playing regularly and scoring goals, none of which has happened at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel. Werner hasn’t been able to put in consistent performance since his arrival two years ago because of that, offloading Werner isn’t an easy task.
There may be some hope as RB Leipzig showing some interest in the player but that seems rather speculative, with reports in Germany claiming that it would be “an option for all parties” but also it has “a long way to go”.Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga, might leave the club as Napoli have shown interest in him.Kepa played the first game of the US Tour and then was not seen the rest of the trip. The maligned German striker has stuttered in front of goal for the Blues since arriving at the club for £50 million in 2019. He has just scored 23 goals in 89 appearances – and has been guilty of some horror misses. The German reports have added that a fall out between boss Thomas Tuchel and Werner could be the main reason for his departure.
