(Football news) Dortmund survived a scare at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt as they won in dramatic fashion 3-2. In the first half Frankfurt’s Rafael Maury put them in front with their first effort on goal as Filip Kostic whipped a dangerous free kick into the box which beat keeper Gregor Kobel. Dortmund managed to recover from the setback but Maury struck again, this time pouncing on some sloppy defending from Marco Reus in the box following a mistake from Dortmund's players in their own half as they gave possession away. In the second half Dortmund made a couple of changes which changed the complexion of the as in the 71st minute with Erling Haaland sent Thorgan Hazard through to pull a goal back late on as Dortmund did the unthinkable, Jude Bellingham rose highest to head in an 87th minute equaliser before Mo Dahoud curled in a beautiful shot for the winner in the 89th minute to send Dortmund to 37 points and cut the gap to leaders Bayern Munich
Dortmund defender Mats Hummels said “This was a great and emotional win, We had a good start and then showed a reaction at the end of the first half. The second half was then a very good reaction. But it is frustrating and a constant issue that we give away goals from nothing.We concede goals from situations where no goals should be allowed in.
Marco rose after the match said “Now Bayern lost yesterday and we won today, and the topic is being opened again. You know our opinion and our stance about it. We would like to make the Bundesliga very, very exciting..We know everything Bayern are able to do, and how they are when everyone is fit. We have to do our homework first. We have to get better and everything else will come naturally.”

RB Leipzig started the year in dominating fashion as they won 4-1 against Mainz 05. RB Lepizig moved 5 points of the Champions League place thanks to two goals from Andre Silva after the visitors played most of the match with ten men. Silva converted the penalty and also added a fourth goal for Leipzig, they made sure of the result after goals from Dominik Szobozslai and Christopher Nkunku sealed their only 7th victory this season, while Jae-Sung Lee scored a consolation for Mainz. Leipzig climbed to eighth in the Bundesliga table, two places above Mainz in the Bundesliga standings.
