Bundesliga: Dortmund rally past Hoffenheim as Bayern thrash struggling Hertha

(Football news) Dortmund fought hard to win 3-2 against in-form Hoffenheim. Dortmund were looking to make it three wins out of three league games this year as they got off to a perfect start, Haaland tapped in for the lead in the sixth minute from Donyell Malen first of three assists. Haaland subsequently went off injured in the 63rd, and with this goal he has scored 16 times in the Bundesliga this season. Hoffenheim pegged them back as Andrej Kramaric's sensational volley in first-half stoppage time drew them level but Dortmund struck again in the 58th minute with Marco Reus completing a quickfire passing move and finishing it coolly. Hoffenheim's game went from bad to worse as David Raum drilled the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a Malen’s cutback. Hoffenheim got back into the game when Georginio Rutter caught the defense napping to latch onto a clever Munas Dabbour chip and slot in, but they eventually lost the match. Hoffenheim dropped to sixth on 31 points while Bayer Leverkusen moved up to third on 35

At the post-match press conference, the BVB coach was unable to say how bad Haaland's injury is “I can't say anything about Erling yet. We need to examine him first."

In addition to Haaland, Manuel Akanji was forced off with an injury, with the center-back picking up a knee problem. "The break is not inconvenient for us. A few of the guys might need treatment," said Rose ahead of the upcoming break in the Bundesliga.

Bayern cruised to 4-1 victory over Hertha Berlin as they maintained their six point lead over Dortmund. Corentin Tolisso started the scoring when he did everything right in the 25th, connecting with a Kingsley Coman cross to head the champions into the lead. Later Thomas Muller doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time, stretching to flick in a Joshua Kimmich free kick as Bayern looked to start asserting their dominance. A mistake by Hertha keeper Alexander Schwolow allowed Leroy Sane to slip in and bag Bayern's third goal of the game  in the 75th and late on Serge Gnabry made it 4-0 four minutes later, cutting in from the right to slip the ball through the keeper's legs as Bayern cruised towards their seventh league win from their last eight matches

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said, "I am very satisfied with both our game and the result. We played a very good first half. We were very sharp with our pressing and we put a lot of pressure on them. Sometimes the final ball did not always come but that's really the only thing to complain about,"

Nagelsmann said of Bayern's string of missed chances. “We are getting more versatile and that is good. We are not changing the way we play — always play forward and attack and also defend high — but we adapt to our opponents."
