Bundesliga: Bayern look to extend their lead against Augsburg, Dortmund hope to maintain pace at the top against VFB Stuttgart

(Football news) Bayern Munich face struggling Augsburg in an early fixture as they look to win their 5th game in a row. Julian Nagelsmann's team are currently on top of the table, four points clear of Dortmund and are very well placed to win their 11th title in a row. For Bayern, there was a COVID-19 scare as Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Eric Maxim Choupo Moting had to quarantine themselves after Niklas Sule was tested positive for coronavirus, however all players will be available after negative results. Lewandowski has scored more goals in the Bundesliga (13) than the entire Augsburg team combined (9).

"Kimmich wasn't in training today as a precaution. He was in touch with a person, who might have corona. For now, we have to wait for his PCR test result. We'll know more later today, Kingsley has a tiny muscle problem. If the game had taken place on Saturday, he would have been part of the squad, but we don't want to take any risks. Phonzie (Alphonso Davis) travelled a lot, played a lot, so there's a high probability that he won't start tomorrow," Nagelsmann told reporters.

Dortmund face Vfb Stuttgart at home as Marco Rose’s side will look to maintain their 100% home record intact. Dortmund will also be looking for a response after the international break as they lost back-to-back matches. Despite a never ending injury list, Marco Rose has maintained pressure on Bayern but a defeat to RB Leipzig really cost them as they are 4 points adrift. For Dortmund, Raphael Guerreiro makes a welcome to left wing back role after Thorgan Hazard had to fill that position, Nico Schulz and Marcel Schmelzer are missing through injury. Furthermore, the likes of Mahmoud Dahoud, Emre Can, Dan Axel Zagadou and Moukoko are doubts. The main problem for Marco Rose is to fill up the void left behind by Haaland after he suffered a long term injury, in the past weeks he has used Donyell Malen in the false nine position.

Rose confirmed that Reyna’s injury turned out to be more serious than initially expected. “It's slowly getting better. The injury turned out to be a bit more serious than we expected. It is not possible for me to predict when he will be back in team training. But we hope that he will be able to play again this year” he said.

RB Leipzig go away to Hoffenheim as they are hoping to make it five straight home wins in all competitions in PreZero Arena. For Leipzig, they will be without Marcel Hastenburg and Marcelo Saracchi but will welcome back the experienced Willi Orban to their back line. The likes of Amadou Haidara, Kevin Kampl and Tyler Adams are doubtful for the clash. Bayer Leverkusen take on VFL Bochum at the BayArena, after a blistering start to the season Bayer’s form has dipped recently and they will hope for a change of fortune after the international break. Bayer will be without Mitchell Baker, Fosu Mensah and Julian Baumgartlinger for this clash.
