(Football news) This season a number of Arsenal’s previously up-and-coming players have become genuine Premier League stars. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale and William Saliba have all taken their game to the next level and they are the main reason that the Gunners are surprising title contenders. Mikel Arteta and Edu are keen to tie these men to new long term deals.
According to English reports, talks have progressed quickly and smoothly as Aaron Ramsdale’s new contract should be finalised by the end of May. The deal is set to be a lucrative one for the goalkeeper, who is now set to earn more than double his current wages and could be Arsenal’s number 1 for quite some time after being tied down for the long-term. The Gunners fans and hierarchy see their goalkeeper as one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League and are rewarding him for the excellent season he is having.
Arsenal’s MVP this season, Bukayo Saka is reportedly close to agreeing a massive long term contract with the club and is set to be confirmed within the coming days. Saka had actually agreed in principle in February but the final nitty-gritty of the contract was finalised as the England international is set to double his current wages. Saka has been a star this season and is subsequently amongst the best players in the Premier League this season, hitting double figures for both goals (13) and assists (11) in the Premier League itself.
Granit Xhaka has arguably been the Gunners’ most consistent performer during this magnificent run as the Swiss international is getting rewarded for his performance with a new contract. Arteta is delighted with the player’s attitude on and off the pitch this season. The only sticking point in negotiations has been the length of the new contract, but Arsenal seem to have come to a compromise and reward their vice captain with a long term deal that will see him remain at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are also hopeful of agreeing a new contract with William Saliba, whose recent injury has proven very costly for the Gunners. As of now no contract extension is currently imminent but Edu and Arteta want to tie him to another long term deal. This season’s super sub Reiss Nelson is set to test the market this summer but he hasn’t ruled out staying at Arsenal. Even if he leaves, the Gunners are currently in the market for a new winger, with the likes of Raphinha and Ferran Torres, Moussa Diaby and Wilfried Zaha all being linked to the club.
