Bruised and battered Liverpool play away at Crystal Palace

After disappointment in Europe, Liverpool will be looking to continue climb towards the top 4 in the Premier League

(Football news) Liverpool’s season has been far from ideal and the 5-2 defeat against Real Madrid at Anfield was the peak of disappointment. Now they have to try and get back on track as they take on Crystal Palace. Liverpool have won their last 2 league games against Everton and Newcastle. The Merseyside club can still make it to the top 4 as they are just 7 points behind 4th placed Tottenham Hotspur with 2 games in hand. Palace on the other hand have won just 1 game after the World Cup game and desperately need a win.

Liverpool are still missing Thiago Alcantara, Calvin Ramsay, Luis Diaz, Arthur and Ibrahima Konate. Jurgen Klopp is likely to make changes to the line-up as both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino haven’t started a game since returning from injury. Jurgen Klopp will also be looking to freshen things up in midfield and defense. Joel Matip and Naby Kieta are likely to come into the line-up. Crystal Palace will be without Sam Johnstone who is injured while Tyrick Mitchell is a doubt after picking up a knock against Brentford. Wilfried Zaha is back in training and could return to the bench at the very least.

Liverpool’s mental strength will be tested in this game as it is never easy to bounce back after a defeat like that. The Reds will be under a lot of pressure in this game as anything less than a win would be catastrophic. The midfield of Crystal Palace will be the biggest problem for Liverpool. If Wilfried Zaha does start then the battle between him and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be the big one. The ideal scenario for the Reds would be a dominant and comfortable win but that won’t be easy especially at a place like Selhurst Park.
