Kolkata Knight Riders have appointed Dwayne Bravo as their mentor for the upcoming seasons of the IPL. Gautam Gambhir, who left the franchise to join the Indian squad, is replaced by him. Before this assignment, the legend of the Chennai Super Kings served as the Men in Yellow’s bowling coach.
Bravo conveyed his excitement for this new phase as well. “I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate. The owners’ passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like environment make it a special place. This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players.”
Throughout his remarkable career, he has participated in 582 T20 matches, claimed 631 wickets, and amassed around 7,000 runs. Bravo has more championship victories than any other cricketer around the world, making his experience unmatched.
The Caribbean all-rounder has been exceptional for whichever team he has represented across formats and all around the world. He has been one of the best for the West Indies side as well as for all the franchises in the world. He has been an integral part of the IPL playing for the Chennai Super Kings for the majority of his IPL career. Bravo has won multiple championships with the CSK franchise and has also been a Purple Cap holder with a record of 32 wickets in a season.
The CEO of Knight Riders Group, Venky Mysore, expressed his delight at the appointment, saying, “DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development. His relentless drive to win, along with his vast experience and deep knowledge, will greatly benefit our franchise and players. We’re also pleased that Bravo will be involved with our other franchises globally, including CPL, MLC, and ILT20.”
