Bowlers and Klaasen powers Durban Super Giants to a third straight win

(Cricket news) Durban Super Giants defeated the Joburg Super kings comprehensively by 37 runs to make it three from three in the SA20. Heinrich Klaasen continued his rich form in the white ball game as he played an exceptional knock of 64 from just 41 balls on a difficult surface in Kingsmead, Durban.

Klaasen smashed a total of 9 boundaries including 7 fours and 2 sixes in his knock of 64 runs, while the next highest score in the team was 17 runs by Keemo Paul. DSG were able to put up a total of 145 runs having won the toss on a tricky surface. Klaasen’s innings came at a crucial stage for the Super Giants after being reduced to 34/4 inside 7 overs. Lizaad Williams was the pick of JSK’s bowlers, finishing with 4 for 26.

JSK were slow to get off the blocks in the chase with their captain Faf du Plessis struggling to make an impact. He was put out of his misery by his opposite number, Keshav Maharaj, in the final over of the powerplay when he was at a score of 7 from 17 in a total of 33. Maharaj shortly added the wicket of Ronan Mermann while Leus du Plooy fell shortly thereafter.

Reeza Hendricks and Moeen Ali tried to put up a fight for the visitors but all their efforts were in vain as they got no support from any of the other batters. Hendricks was dismissed in the 13th over post which Mooen Ali tried to delay the inevitable, but they were eventually bundled out for a score of 108 runs in their given 20 overs handing Super giants their third straight win of the season.
