Betis Get Boost with Stars Set to Return

On Monday, Betis’ first team began their most recent preseason training camp in Marbella with some encouraging news:  Diego Llorente has returned to the team, but in a restricted role.  Mundo Deportivo reports that the central defender has been out since an injury sustained in mid-April.

Llorente had a serious injury to his left hamstring during a game against Villarreal on April 17. He had surgery in Finland, where medical professionals fixed two torn tendons.  His first day back with the team, while not at full strength, was Monday. He is expected to return to play in the middle of September.

Marc Roca, a midfielder, is likewise making solid progress following late-May surgery on his left ankle in Porto.  Today, he participated in ball-handling drills under supervision, while Nelson Deossa walked the field for the first time with his new colleagues, overcoming recent pain that had hindered him at his previous club, Rayados.

For comparison, Diego Llorente joined Betis in 2024.  Last season, he played 42 games, scoring two goals and averaging 1.2 tackles and 1.4 interceptions.

Marc Roca, a defensive midfielder, has been at Betis since 2023, initially on loan from Leeds before signing a permanent deal.  Last season, he participated in 17 games, scoring two goals and assisting twice.
