Cincinnati (Tennis news): In Men’s Singles, the big three have been missing here in the Cincinnati Masters 1000 but the action continues in the sport. Daniil Medvedev continued his impressive run as he ousted Grigor Dimtrov in straight sets. Daniil beat Dimitrov 6-3, 6-3 as he won 74 percent of his first serves and saved three breakpoints out of four as he looks to win the title here for a second time. Medvedev is looking in great form as it will be interesting to see how things turn out in the US Open.
Benoit Paire barely scraped through in his match against John Isner as he served 20 double faults but smashed 16 aces for victory. The first set saw Paire winning the tiebreak 1-7, in the next the tables turned as Isner took it 7-2 but in the third set the Frenchmen proved why on his best day he just couldn't be beaten as he took it 6-1 for a place in the quarterfinals.
Stefanos Tsitsipas showed why he is the Greek God as he rallied past Lorenzo Sonego to advance to the quarterfinals. Tsitsipas roared as he won the last point, showing how much it meant to him. Sonego played pitch perfect tennis as he hit 15 winners to three unforced errors and won 87 per cent of first serve points. There was hard hitting by both the players as there were 59 winners in total.
Andrey Rublev fiercely fought against Gael Monfils and the Cincinnati heat to advance into the quarterfinals. It was an entertaining match as Rublev showed his power and Monfils displayed his usual coverage of the court. Monfils was not well during the start of the set as threw up in a courtside can. Few words were exchanged as Rublev was not happy with the delay and the calling of physios between the matches.

In Women’s Singles, Ashleigh Barty booked a place in the quarterfinals with a ruthless performance against defending champion Victoria Azarenka. She beat Azarenka 6-0, 6-2 as the two time champion had no answer to Barty who will be looking into bringing this form of play to the US Open.
Naomi Osaka was not in her best form as she lost to Jil Teichmann in the round of 16, she had faced an early exit in the Tokyo Olympics as doubts arose over her form in recent tournaments. Jil Teichmann will certainly celebrate the biggest win of her career yet as she will look to replicate it in her next match.
Karolina Pliskova finally got revenge over Jessica Pegula as she had lost her last four matches against her. Pliskova made two sensational comebacks in the match, one better than the other. In the first set Pliskova was down 4-1 but turned around the game as she won five straight games to steal the set from Pegula. In the second set Pliskova was again in danger as she was down 0-5 and again won five consecutive games but Pegula took the next game and was looking to win the set but Pliskova managed to save that well as she took it to tiebreak and finished the match in over an hour and 24 minutes.
In Men’s Doubles, Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah defeated Fabrice Martin and Filip Krajinović 7-6(7-3), 6-4 and will face Michael Venus and Tim Pütz in the quarterfinal. Hubert Hurkacz and Jannik Sinner will face top seeds and Toronto finalists Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić in the round of 16. The top seeds will be playing their first match here and will expect to lift the trophy here.
In Women’s Doubles, Zhang Shuai and Samantha Stosur went past Květa Peschke and Ellen Perez in the round of 16. The pair took the first set 6-3 but lost in the second set with a similar score and in the third set they closed it out with a 10-6 victory. Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani are into the semifinals as they beat Ena Shibahara and Shuko Aoyama 6-3, 6-3 to remain favourites in the tournament.
