Rumors: BCCI to Launch of T-10 Cricket League in October-November Window

This occurs at a time when the Indian Premier League, which features the shortest format of cricket, has witnessed an increase in valuation and viewership since the BCCI launched it.

(Cricket News) The League with the shortest form of cricket, the 20-over Indian Premier League (IPL), has seen an increase in viewership as well as valuation; earlier this week, Brand Finance released a report suggesting that IPL has gained the status of a decacorn with a valuation of roughly $10.7 billion.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering launching a T10 format cricket league, and it may begin between October and September next year, sources reported on Friday.
There are a few key factors that the BCCI needs to take into consideration before launching this new league, according to people with knowledge of the developments who were quoted in the report.

These include having an age bracket to prevent the league from undermining the popularity of the IPL and ways to guarantee that the best players in white-ball cricket play in it. Additionally, since cricket boards are currently not making enough money from bilateral series, this new series, along with a potential revenue-sharing model, may help these boards financially, but it may also increase the risk associated with the 50-over format.

India may not require as much funding as other countries, as Bloomberg recently revealed that Saudi Arabia is considering investing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The kingdom has proposed to contribute as much as $5 billion to the league and lead its expansion into other nations, akin to the European Champions League or the English Premier League. The BCCI has not yet released an official statement on the new league.
