Bangladesh Cricket Board Receives Request from Tamim Iqbal to Be Excluded from Central Contract

Tamim Iqbal did not take part in the 2023 World Cup.

(Cricket News) According to a BCB official, Tamim Iqbal, the opener for Bangladesh, has asked to be removed from the renewed central contact list for the upcoming calendar year. This request was made on December 24 (Sunday), following the 34-year-old’s earlier declaration that he would make a decision regarding his international career after speaking with BCB president Nazmul Hassan.

Tamim last appeared for Bangladesh in the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand prior to the 2023 World Cup in September. After retiring and having a reversal episode in July, the star batter had a falling out with the team management and captain Shakib Al Hasan, which forced him to miss the major event in India.

The experienced cricketer, who has only played one Test and twelve ODIs this year, last month dispelled rumours about his future by declaring he intends to play competitive cricket again in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which begins on January 19. With the board president’s approval, the BCB is expected to finalize the central contract list by December 31st.
