BCB Director Naimur Rahman resigns from his role

Amidst all the chaos happening in the BCB, the Bangladesh team has brought a lot of joy for the cricket lovers in their country with the series victory over Pakistan

The protests and the change in the political scenario in Bangladesh have hugely the nation as well as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The country and its people have suffered a lot in the last month and so has the cricket board of the nation. Bangladesh who was set to host the T20 World Cup at home, will not be hosting the tournament in the UAE.

Amidst all the things happening, the BCB director Naimur Rahman has stepped down from his role. Naimur who was Bangladesh’s first test captain, served three terms as the Director of the BCB but has not decided to step down before completing the fourth term mainly due to the political change in the nation, considering the BCB’s association with the previous ruling party Awami League.

“I am resigning for personal reasons,” Naimur said on Wednesday. “I would like to thank BCB for giving me the opportunity to work in different positions during the past decade. I have thoroughly enjoyed working here and appreciate all of the opportunities the Board had given me as chairman of BCB’s Cricket Operation and High-Performance Unit,” he said

“I tried my level best to contribute as a former national captain for the development of cricket in Bangladesh. Apart from that I would also like to thank the councilors who elected me as their representative to the board,” he said.

“If BCB requires me in future I would love to work for Bangladesh cricket again,” he added.

In addition to Naimur, Jalal Yunus and Shafiul Alam also tendered their resignations. After Nazmul Hasan resigned as BCB president in late August, former national skipper Faruque Ahmed took over as BCB president, causing a significant upheaval in the organization.
