(Football news) Bayern Munich’s in-form striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored twice in two minutes to lead the champions to a close 3-2 victory in Berlin as they went top in the Bundesliga. The 33-year-old Cameroonian is in some scintillating form for the last three weeks before the World Cup as he has scored in seven consecutive games in all competitions and the those two goals meant that he has scored in fourth straight games in the league. Jamal Musiala gave Bayern an early lead after 12 minutes. In a frantic end to the first half Choupo-Moting slotted in their second goal in the 38th minute before he pounced on a bad clearance to score in another a minute later to make it 3-0.
Hertha fans unfurled a banner which read 'Boycott Qatar 2022' over the human rights record ahead of the tournament which starts on the 20th. Dodi Lukebakio brilliantly volleyed in at the far post in the 40th minute and Davie Selke converted a 45th-minute penalty to further cut the deficit. The pace of the match dropped after the break with Bayern doing enough to protect their lead. Bayern Munich are top of the table with 28 points as Borussia Dortmund are third on 25.
Youssoufa Moukoko scored twice as Dortmund cruised past VfL Bochum 3-0 to take over third spot in the Bundesliga. The 17-year-old Moukoko delivered an amazing performance ahead of Germany coach Hansi Flick's squad announcement next week. He scored an outstanding goal when he rifled in from 18 yards to give Dortmund the lead in the eighth minute. Moukoko, who became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach 10 career goals as he added another on the stroke of half-time.
His second goal was an audaciously lobbed the ball over an out-of-position Manuel Riemann for subsequently his sixth league goal of the season. Youssoufa Moukoko and Gio Reyna both struck in Dortmund's win as there was more good news for Dortmund early in the second half when captain Marco Reus made his comeback just in time for the World Cup squad announcement. Dortmund fans also unfurled giant banners reading 'Boycott Qatar 2022' and 'Switch off Qatar2022' over the human rights record ahead of the World Cup.
