(Esports news) Following the completion of the Launch Party, Battlegrounds Mobile India confirmed the inaugural competitive event Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023 or BGMIS 2023 in a recent social media post. Prior to the statewide prohibition of the popular game in India, PMIS or the PUBG Mobile India Series was renamed Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023.
This is the inaugural competitive BGMI event, kicking off the game’s esports scene, which has been on hold since the ban of PUBG Mobile, causing uncertainty for the game’s existing esports teams and lineups. As a result, this statement comes at a critical juncture for both teams and players eager to return to action and relaunch their initiatives.
The BGIS 2023 will provide an opportunity for everyone to demonstrate their skills and abilities. The excitement extends not only to players but also to fans who have patiently awaited the game’s comeback. They are now filled with enthusiasm and expectation to see their favorite squad in action once more.

The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series event’s first season ran from December 2021 to January 2022. It had a prize pool of $1.0 million and was available to all contestants. The competition took place over five distinct stages, with Skylightz Gaming finishing as the champion team. According to esports metrics, the BGIS 2021 was a huge success, with over 460k peak viewers and a whopping 15 million views.
The commentators recently gave a tempting hint regarding the upcoming India series tournament at the BGMI Rising event. On July 14, a 26-second YouTube video dubbed RiseUp debuted as the first official preview of this event. While Krafton has not yet released the tournament’s schedule or prize money, it is likely to be released soon.
