(Basketball news) The Los Angeles Lakers got only their 4th win of the season as they beat the Detroit Pistons 128-121. For the Lakers, Anthony Davis had 38 points and 16 rebounds, Lonnie Walker added 17 points as LeBron James missed his third straight game with a left groin strain he was unable to return even after his struggling team had the previous four days off. Austin Reaves, who scored 11 of his 16 points after halftime, finished off by Davis' 16 points in the fourth quarter. For the Pistons, Alec Burks scored 23 points and Bojan Bogdanovic added 20 points as Killian Hayes had 18 points. With this result the Lakers improved their record to 4-10.

''I'd be glad if I had zero points and we won,'' Davis said. ''We've got to put a string of wins together to get back in this thing, but take it one game at a time.''

''He's been a monster this whole season, but definitely the last three games or so,'' Reaves said. ''That's what he does, and everybody knows it.''

''We're struggling, trying to find a win,'' coach Dwane Casey said. ''Everybody is going to have their opportunity, so don't count your minutes, make your minutes count.''

''It was great just playing in front of the fans,'' Schroder said. ''My first time (with the Lakers) was after COVID, so I didn't get to experience our fans.''

The Golden State Warriors bounced back from a disappointing defeat as they beat the New York Knicks 111-101. For the Warriors, Stephen Curry added 24 points, 10 assists and six rebounds as Klay Thompson scored 20 points with four 3-pointers while Andrew Wiggins added 20 points with seven rebounds and Draymond Green contributed 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists with two blocked shots. For the Knicks, Julius Randle had 20 points and seven rebounds and RJ Barrett scored 18 points for a cold-shooting night as they began the match with 5 of 22, shot 34.5% and tried to play catch up all night. The Warriors are 7-1 at home and 0-8 on the road

''It seemed like every time Klay just made an extra pass, the ball started to move and then we got a wide open shot,'' Kerr said. ''We ended up with 32 assists. It started with early on Klay taking a more patient approach. And then the game rewarded him.''

''I'm actually much more interested in why we're not playing well on the road than why were are playing well at home,'' Kerr said. ''I expect to play well at home. We've got a good record here over the years and good players, great fans. No reason we shouldn't control our home court. But we got to start putting it together on the road, too.''
