Lakers finally get a victory while Pistons shock the Warriors

(Basketball news) The Los Angeles Lakers finally snapped out of their losing streak as they got their first victory of the season over the Denver Nuggets 121-110. For the Lakers, LeBron James scored 26 points, Anthony Davis added 23 points and Russell Westbrook had 18 points from the bench. The victory was a must for the Purple and Gold as they were the last winless team in the NBA. For the Nuggets, Nikola Jockic scored 23 points and Jamal Murray added a season-high 21 points. This also meant that it was Darvin Ham’s first victory as a head coach in the NBA

''We needed to prove something to ourselves,'' Ham said. ''Not to the world, not the media. We had to prove it to ourselves. I feel great about how we responded throughout the game.''

''Like I've mentioned since Day One, whatever is needed from me to help the team win, that's what I'll do,'' Westbrook said.

''It's day by day,'' Davis said. ''One day, I feel great. The next day (it's hard). Just try to manage it and keep getting treatment.''

''They were playing with desperation and I felt like we had them and let it slip away,'' Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon said.

The Detroit Pistons shocked the defending champions the Golden State Warriors as they beat them 128-114. For the Pistons, Saddiq Bey scored 28 points as Cunningham had 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists while Isaiah Stewart added 24 points and 13 rebounds. For the Warriors, Steph Curry had 32 points and Jordan Poole added 30 points, Klay Thompson was missing as he was given a rest. This was the Pistons 2 victory of the season as the Warriors lost their 4 match this season.

''I think tonight we showed what Pistons basketball is going to be,'' Stewart said. ''We played defense the way we needed to play it every night, and on offense we were sharing the ball and making sure everyone got shots.''

''We can't stop fouling, and something needs to click with our guys,'' Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after his team put Detroit on the line 38 times. ''We have to be near the bottom of the league in defensive efficiency and that puts us in some bad spots offensively.''

''I think our offense is killing our defense, whether it is floor balance or whether the ball doesn't move and guys are stagnant,'' Draymond Green said. ''The two ends aren't connecting, and in order to be a great team, those two ends have to connect.''
