One of the Premier League’s most notable revelations, Dean Huijsen has drawn interest from elite clubs throughout Europe.  His performance against the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League quarterfinals has cemented his reputation and sparked interest from a number of teams that have been keeping a close eye on him.

 Real Madrid and Liverpool seemed to be the front-runners for his signature until lately, but FC Barcelona has come out of the shadows as a new competitor.  The La Liga powerhouses are willing to make big efforts in the transfer market to acquire Huijsen because they consider him as an essential component of their future.

FC Barcelona is considering letting go of Ronald Araújo, one of their defensive stars, in order to make this operation easier.  Although the Uruguayan has been a mainstay of Barcelona’s defense in previous years, Huijsen’s arrival may be made possible by his high market worth.

 Deco, the club’s sporting director, may be willing to sell Araújo and utilize the proceeds to cover the Bournemouth central defender’s release clause, according to people close to the sporting direction.  Despite Araújo’s crucial position in Barcelona’s setup, his departure can be justified by the opportunity to recruit a young player with enormous promise like Huijsen.

The possibility of establishing a defensive alliance with Pau Cubarsí is one of the justifications Barcelona could use to lure Huijsen.  Despite his youth, the young Catalan center-back has shown incredible talent, and he and the Bournemouth defender might become one of Europe’s most promising teams.

 The project at Barcelona and the chance to play a bigger part in the club may be the deciding factor in Dean Huijsen’s decision, even though Real Madrid and Liverpool are still very appealing options.  The key question at this point is whether Barcelona is actually prepared to let go of Araújo in order to sign him.
