Barcelona Shifts Focus to La Masia Talents

The midfield star of Bayern Munich In recent transfer windows, Joshua Kimmich has been strongly associated with FC Barcelona.

When Xavi Hernandez was leading the squad, the German international was a top transfer target. This past summer, when Hansi Flick took over as manager, the team was even linked to the German international.

It has been suggested that Kimmich is still on the Blaugrana’s radar as a possible free agency acquisition as his contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2025.

In fact, because of his relationship with Flick, Lothar Matthaus, a great of Bayern Munich and Germany, voiced concerns that the midfield player might join Barcelona in the summer.

However, because of the rise of two La Masia players, Marc Bernal and Marc Casado, Barcelona is no longer interested in signing Kimmich or any other defensive midfield player, according to SPORT.

Under Flick, Bernal made his debut in the senior setup and was instantly popular before his season was unexpectedly cut short by an unlucky ACL injury.

Because of Bernal’s injury, Casado was able to make a name for himself in the starting lineup, and he has done it admirably, becoming a vital part of Flick’s setup.

Therefore, as they enter the summer of 2025, Barça wants to keep placing their future bets on its academy two and isn’t considering Kimmich or any other pivot.

According to the source, despite Flick’s excellent relationship with the Bayern Munich midfielder, the Catalans’ sporting director Deco does not think he is a good fit, hence his signing is not being considered.
