Barcelona play away at Espanyol; Real Madrid host Getafe

(Football News) Barcelona will play away at Espanyol on Sunday. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are playing before them and if they both slip up then Barcelona will officially become Champions before they play Espanyol. Barcelona will once again be without Sergi Roberto who is racing against time to return before the end of the season. Gavi and Raphinha picked up knocks in the last game but have now recovered. Espanyol are battling relegation and they desperately need some points to get out of the relegation zone before it’s too late.

Real Madrid’s La Liga race is run as Barcelona are set to win the Leagueand they will now be fully focused on the Champions League semi final tie against Manchester City. They still have to play Getafe but Carlo Ancelotti is expected to play a second string team. Dani Carvajal is suspended while Karim Benzema, Rodrygo and David Alaba are not called up to the squad.

The good news is that Ferland Mendy is back and is likely to get some minutes. Players like Eden Hazard, Mariano, Jesus Vallejo and Alvaro Odriozolo are set to start the game. Getafe on the other hand need to get out of the relegation zone and will hence be 10 times more desperate for a win than Real Madrid.

Atletico Madrid will play away from home against Elche. The Rojiblancos have recovered really well this season and are now well on course to finish above Real Madrid in 2nd spot. The Rojiblancos will be without Memphis Depay, Marcos Llorente, Stefan Savic and Reinildo, while the availability of Mario Hermoso and Jan Oblak is doubtful. Elche on the other hand will be missing Pedro Bigas and Helibelton Palacios. Omar Mascarell and Jose Angel Carmona are doubts due to fitness issues.
