(Football news) Last season was nothing short of embarrassing for Barcelona as they went trophyless and couldn't make it out of their UCL group. Not only that, the Blaugrana were knocked out by Frankfurt in the Europa League. This season they have signed a total of 7 players but they face a similar problem. After 3 games Barcelona sit 3rd on the UCL table with 3 points. Inter Milan is 2nd with 6 points while Bayern Munich is 1st with 9 points. Barcelona need to win all 3 of their remaining games in order to qualify for the Round of 16 and avoid a drop to the Europa League for the 2nd season in a row. The first of those games is against Inter Milan at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona have been plagued with injuries as they are missing Andreas Christensen, Hector Bellerin, Ronald Araujo, Memphis Depay and Jules Kounde. Thankfully for Xavi Franck Kessie and Frenkie De Jong are back in the squad. The Catalans were incredibly unlucky to lose the game at San Siro last week and they will be looking to do well this time around. Inter could virtually guarantee their spot in the Round of 16 with a win or even a draw. Dalbert, Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Cordaz, Joaquin Correa and Gabriel Brazao are out of contention for Inter while Romelu Lukaku could return from injury.
Barcelona have the El Clasico on Sunday but this match is much more important. They are level on points with Real Madrid on top of La Liga. Barcelona simply can't afford to drop down to the Europa League especially after signing so many players in the transfer window. After a brilliant start, Lewandowski's form has dropped off a little but this is the perfect match for him to score important goals and bounce back. Barcelona only have 2 centre backs and 1 right back fit while 3 left backs are also in the squad. Defensively the Blaugrana are well understaffed and Inter Milan will be looking to take advantage of it.
