Bangladesh’s suffering is exacerbated by Rahim’s error

It will only take two wickets for New Zealand to bowl out Bangladesh for a modest total.

(Motorsports news) In the second Test match between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Dhaka, Bangladesh was dealt a harsh reality after choosing to bat. From the very beginning of the innings, the pitch appeared to be helping the spinners; it offered significant purchase through spin and bounce, which made things difficult for the batters.

Bangladesh was in the midst of a comeback after losing four wickets in the opening session, thanks to a stand of 57 runs between Mushfiqur Rahum and Shahadat Hossain before the latter suffered a brain fade. Rahim was given out for blocking the field on 35 when he knocked the ball away with his glove after protecting it, and New Zealand’s appeal was properly upheld. Bangladesh incurred significant costs as a result of the fundamental mistake.

Shahadat went out, edging a massive off-break down the legside, to fall victim to Glenn Phillips. Shahadat had held one end up deftly alongside Rahim in their determined stand. Nurul Hasan hammered one straight to mid-on to increase Phillips’s lead in scalps. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, after a 42-ball stay, turned to a Mitchell Santner turner, edging it to slip, minutes before the tea break. The visitors had another successful session, topped off by that wicket.

Santner was the first to strike in the morning session, forcing opener Zakir Hasan to make a false swing and being caught at mid-on. New Zealand has selected Santner for this Test instead of Ish Sodhi. This was the outcome of Santner and Ajaz Patel, two left-arm spinners, beginning on song and stringing up a few tight overs. However, that wicket quickly brought about a few more. Ajaz got Mominul Haque to under-edge a cut to the wicketkeeper in his next over after Mahmudul Hasan caught off an inside edge at short leg first.

In an effort at a quick comeback, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto reverse-swept Santner for a boundary but was caught off balance when attempting an encore. Santner pushed for an LBW review and won it in his favor after he missed and was hit on the pad, cutting Bangladesh to 47/4 at one stage. And Rahim’s error destroyed Bangladesh’s chances of coming back from that point.
