Diego Simeone didn’t make any changes in the line-up that defeated Real Valladolid. Ivo Grbic had to continue between the sticks as Jan Oblak continued to recover from knock. Geoffrey Kondogbia, Angel Correa and Pablo Barrios were once again left on the bench. Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring inside 2 minutes after being set up by Yannick Carrasco.

Twenty five minutes later Thomas Lemar set up Griezmann who scored again to make it 2-0. Alvaro Morata joined the party in the 2nd half by making it 3-0. Atletico Madrid were awarded a penalty for a handball which was Yannick Carrasco converted the spot kick.

However the goal didn’t bother Atletico Madrid as Nahuel Molina scored another just 1 minute later to seal a 5-1 win. Atletico Madrid are yet to play Osasuna and Real Sociedad at home along with Elche, Espanyol and Villarreal away. If they continue to play in this fashion then the Rojiblancos should win each match and finish 2nd. Finsihing 2nd will seal their spot in next year’s Spanish Super Cup.
