Atleti Targeting Star Striker for Summer

It appeared that Atletico Madrid would have an amazing season this year.  The club made a large investment in the transfer market last summer, putting together what many consider to be the best team in its history, according to coach Diego Simeone’s tactical philosophy.  At first, they were performing at a high level and were ready to compete for major awards.  Unfortunately, as has regrettably become the club’s pattern, they struggled at crucial times, leaving supporters worried that they could end the season without a victory.  However, as plans to acquire top people are being considered, the emphasis is already turning to the future.

The administration of Atletico knows that they must find a successor for French star Antoine Griezmann because of his clearly deteriorating form.  Viktor Gyokeres, a bright Swedish talent, is currently the center of attention.  Whether Griezmann remains in the team or leaves, the Madrid team intends to make a serious effort to recruit Gyokeres this summer.  In order to relieve some of the strain on the Argentine star, Simeone wants to combine Gyokeres with Julián Álvarez and create a dynamic combo.  According to the coach, both players would greatly enhance the team’s attacking ability by complementing one another.

Though club management are well aware that the task at hand would not be simple, the ambition of bringing Gyokeres to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium is still very much alive.  With estimations starting at about 70 million euros, the striker’s transfer fee is anticipated to be high.  Additionally, Atletico will have fierce competition in the market because Premier League teams are eager to acquire the Swedish international’s skills.  The player will have to carefully consider his options and make the final decision.
